The
Plight | What can we do to help? The
Beauty and Dignity The Beauty of the African people speaks for
itself. Whether we have known someone from Africa or have been affected in a more
general way by the culture and spirit of this continent and its beautiful people,
we have come to see that it is a place full of joy and wisdom which must be protected
at all costs. Africa is under attack by disease, poverty and debt. If we stand
by and do nothing we will be letting go of one of the precoius jewels of our shared
earth. So
what can we do and who are we to help these people? How much effect can we really
have? In many ways it is not up to us to fix the plight of the African people.
It is the African people who will strive through hardship to overcome, but that
does not mean that we can't help. What we need is people to wake up to what is
going on there. There is no one magic cure, but as our politicians, churches,
schools and corporations wake up to the plight of the African people, we will
begin the process of healing Africa. The answer is not as simple as sending food
and money over in the hopes that things will work themselves out, money and food
will only help with short term problems. In order to really help we will have
to address the root of the problem, not just the symptoms. We don't claim to have
all the answers, but we do know that in the end it will be education, empowerment
and ideas that will free the African people from thier plight. So let's get started.

| | Plight
of Africa's children By Carolyn Bartholomew/David Oot June 16,
2005
Today, commemorated by many across the world as the Day of the
African Child, the facts paint a harsh picture of life and death for Africa's
children. Africa has only 10 percent of the world's population, but 40 percent
of childhood deaths. Almost 16 million African children have been orphaned by
AIDS. Yet, even in Africa, preventable or treatable diseases, like
pneumonia, malaria, diarrhea and measles, are still a greater threat to the health
of children than HIV/AIDS. But far too little is done to increase the access of
Africa's children to low-cost, lifesaving services. Proven, low-cost immunizations,
antibiotics and antimalarials, oral rehydration therapy and improved breastfeeding
practices could save most of the lost lives. World Vision (www.worldvision.com) Eight
children in Africa die every minute from poverty-related causes.
What
can we do to help?
1. GET
INVOLVED! Get directly involved in one of the many organization that are currently
dealing with the crisis in Africa. Also we need volunteers who can act on their
own initiative to be a center of contact and information in their area. We need
volunteer web help, building this site, and keeping it up to date, and creating
other avenues to get the word out. Create a Yes! Africa! Blog! We need flyers,
bumper stickers, postcards and more! And we want people to come together and just
create these things and RUN WITH IT! As a grassroots revolution, we will find
huge success in this endeavor. 2. HELP SPREAD
THE AWARENESS! We are currently using our Yes! Africa! T-shirts as our primary
means of getting the word out to people, who then visit our web-site online and
get involved. You can sell T-shirts for the cause! Obtain T-shirts from us and
sell them for the cause. What you raise and send back to us is a tax deductable
contribution. 3. DONATE to the YesAfricaProject.
All contributions are tax deductible and go toward our mission of creating and
fostering awareness of the beauty, dignity, and the plight of the African people.
Checks and Contributions should be
made to our umbrella organization, Spiritual Alliance, P.O. Box 267, Huntingdon
Valley, PA 19006, earmarked for the Yes! Africa! Campaign. (Spiritual Alliance
is a 501c3 non profit organization that supports various campaigns which promote
love, integrity, and support in the world. Grant Schnarr is the founder of Spiritual
Alliance. For more information contact Grant Schnarr at grschnarr@aol.com.. ) You
can also contribute directly to the Yes! Africa! Campaign via credit card online.

Are We?
Our
organization is not sponsored by or affiliated with any church or government project.
We are a group of people who have been touched and awakened to the humanity and
the urgent need of support for an entire continent of noble humanity who are suffering
and dying by the thousands for lack of awareness of their more affluent earthly
neighbors, and a lack of human connection and subsequent care. We believe if people
of other continents are given the opportunity to get to know the varied people
of Africa, experience their beauty, witness their dignity, and recognize that
these, our brothers and sisters of the earth, are in need of our support, we can
help Africans help themselves, and save a continent of people from destruction. CONTACT
